The days are long, but the sun is gone.
Done are the days of bright hot light
The drive and determination to push on,
leaving with every exhaling breath.
Nights used to extend into morning
with hope for tomorrow.
No rays touching more than face
Loss of heat touching the chest
Only burn after it has left
It shines where it always has
leaving me to bask in darkness.
