2-14-07: Wrestlemania and my thoughts.
"Shawn Michaels should go after John Cena and the World Title..."
"Randy Orton and Edge should have the standard 'top heel' feud by one being jealous of the other and constantly trying to one up each other."
"Shawn Michaels should win the Royal Rumble, or get the RAW World Title Match"
Scary thing is...right on ALL Accounts.
I don't want everyone to think I'm making this up, this is what I said 24 hours after I heard of Triple H (HHH, Hunter Hearst Helmsley etc) injury to his quad that was going to keep him out of action for months...
EVERY piece of that is true...
Then, I get asked "who's going to win the superbowl?" Kno wwhat my response is? How about this...
"Here's a better one...First play from scrimage is a pass to Dallas Clark. Second play is a run from Addai...third is a dropped pass to Marvin Harrison...three plays later (at most) they are in the endzone to Reggie Wayne...and the first commercial will be BUD LIGHT."
Now in one instance...Ask Tino. I'll give you his number. In the second instance, ask my co-worker Drew, who asked me the night before. I also said I'd take the Colts by NINE...not the 7 they were favored by, but I said they wouldn't be at the 48.5 over/under.
Weird, huh? This is NOT made up, and this is 100% the truth.
Why am I saying this? Because everyone goes through hot spots. My buddy Fubar just hit on a $5 scratcher ticket for $700. Crazy thing is, next week we are going to AC (Atlantic City) for two days of gambling. Why? we enjoy it.
Anyway, this isn't a news filled spot or anything, but I thought it'd be fun to let everyone know of my most recent psychic moments...isn't it weird?

2/12/07: TAVA site update and my thoughts...
TAVA's first advertisement will show up on March 2nd, as well. I wanted the March 1st, but since its only TAVA's 1 month anniversary, compared to SUPEROSITY's 8th YEAR Anniversary, I thought that it'd be best to "not cross the boss" and make sure Chris gets to celebrate Superosity on it's birthday :).
Now the scary news. I've let JK know that I've fallen a little behind on lettering the pages for ARDY, and as scary as it sounds, as soon as I get the energy back to finish up to the first 18 full pages, I'll get it done so that we'll be far enough ahead for a bit.
We have until March 1st to get a two pager done for the KEENSPOT PRIMER for Free Comic Book Day again this year, so I've got to come up with one soon, so JK and I can get it in for the book. I don't want to cop out and just reprint last year's, either...soooo....
Also, some other news to note. I'm still pondering on Freddie Blatant's offer for me to write the Dead Sonja sequel, and I see no reason why I'd say no, besides the fact that I'm almost afraid I'll make less writing the sequel than I did on the first one (still waiting on the info from the payday, on that, too...but I'm not sweating it, as you no doubt could tell by all this now).
I also was given the file to be able to letter in the same style that was used for LANDIS...why?
Because if I can find 600 dpi black and white files for LANDIS, Chris Crosby and I have decided I'll finish lettering the story and we'll print what looks like it will be a 120 page version of the book. He wants to try to find a colorist, and if he can for the last part, then I will letter it and we'll do a full color book for like $19.95 for 120 pages...if however we can't find a colorist...(and can recover fhe non-colored files)...we'll go for a less expensive route on it. We both have agreed that LANDIS was a labor of love that deserves its original format...an actual book.
So with this, if ANYONE knows people that want to get their start in comic book coloring, let me know, I am sure some sort of payment can be made for it, as well as their name in the credits, obviously. The only down side is that we are looking for uniformity for the story's coloring, although I would totally let Owen have the pages back to see what else he'd like to add to them, if he wanted to.
So there you have it...all the projects I am currently working on...TAVA comes first, then DEAD SONJA and then finishing what started it all...LANDIS. Not to mention that although it is slow coming, Eric IS chugging away at TAGGER, the long awaited sequel of LANDIS, but with him working upwards of 85 hours a week, its not coming nearly as fast as either him nor myself would prefer. MAybe at some point he'll get a break, and we'll be able to work on some comics again :).
So again, if you know a colorist, one that hasn't worked in the field but would be willing to try, let me know.
Thanks.

2-10-07: Technical Difficulties.
Also, Freddie Blatant and myself are attempting to work out figures for the DEAD SONJA sequel, that he wants to call: DEAD SONJA VS. THE ARMY OF DARKNUTS and XXXENA... Darknuts instead of Darktwits...hmm...not sure, but again, we're trying to work out the figures to make it beneficial for everyone involved...though I'm sure something will come of it. But he has assured me he wants to give me a guaranteed payday on this one :).
Alright, I'll write more later, but for now, I gotta run.

2-7-07: Dissection of a comic page...

What've we got here? Well, we have page 9 of The Ardy Vanstarr Adventures...the first pic, we have the final page that YOU WILL SEE...on March 1st, 2007, what you see in the second pic was the original art for page 9...why the change?
I can't exactly say where an artist suddenly realizes that he doesn't like something he drew... Every artist goes through this...me more than others. I have also noticed that every artist has a tendency to never be 100% happy with ALL pages...so anyway, JK decided he didn't like the page and I told him I thought it looked good...
However, having now seen (and lettered, obviously) the NEW page 9 of the comic, I have to say that I am MUCH happier with the new page, much like JK himself. Originally thinking the newer cartoony look for Ardy wasn't necessarily the best move, I do see the reasoning behind it, and I am ecstatic to see how smoothly the character takes over the page when he's visible.
Even though we figured that any and every one of our readers would be intelligent enough to distinguish that the "planet" was Earth, we made the conscious decision to give you the real Earth to just make certain that passersby would realize it as well.
Also at first notice of this scene, Ardy in the top panel looked a little off...now, in the new one, he looks much better and tighter...JK even added more detail to his chest area, to show off the build.
Gotta say, the new page looks much better than the original...even without ANY changes to the layout.

2-4-07: Optimus Prime...the picture.
So Yahoo movies posted this pic on their Transformers movie information page, and well, its got to be Optimus Prime. Gotta say, he's a beast. I'm happy to see that they kept the faceplate recognizable even though the character otherwise is totally different, but what are you going to do? Structurally, its conceivable that the way the transformers looked and were as toys was NOT something that would translate well into a live action film...Now with the information that the voices of Optimus Prime and Megatron will be played by the original voice actors, this fanboy can do nothing but give the film the attention it deserves.
I hope it plays out well, but then again, Bay hasn't dissappointed me...not even with the Island, I thought that film was terrific.

2-3-07: Post 365...TAVA BEGINS!
JK and I have set up the very basic www.ardyvanstarr.com site to go ahead and start, and don't worry, even though it looks like its not being updated, it is...the next update will be on 2-6-07, Tuesday, to keep with the Tuesday / Thursday update schedule.
In fact, by the end of tomorrow, I should have ALL of February's pages fully uploaded to the web for it, and some of March's. We've got the first 11 pages fully drawn, and I've uploaded the first six, so this is a really great piece of news...this means I know we won't miss an update in February UNLESS something happens to me, so please don't wish it so...
To celebrate the occassion, however, I'm going to make an offer to anyone that wants a piece of TAVA beginning's history...
I will print out on cardstock, autograph and head sketch Ardy on the original day's strip if anyone wants it. I will be offering them for $5 a piece if anyone wants one, to help pay for JK and Junior Bruce Productions art expenses and shipping.
JK and I HAVE started a new blog for TAVA, as well, which will be added to the comic page for commentary on daily pages and such, as well as allowing for comments to be added to everything...
Hopefully, by March 1st, Crosby and Keenspot will get us an ad to help push The Ardy Vanstarr Adventures to the masses. I know Chris reads this blog, so I'll say, "HEY CHRIS! How about March 1st's ad space? hehe..."
Thanks for reading!

1-31-07: Junior Bruce / Potsy - Megaton Man / Rubber Brother
Howdy again today...As I'm bored just typing words into existing comic pages, I have decided that at this very moment, I want to color something, so I took JK's drawing from his deviantart page (yourbuddybuddy.deviantart.com) and took his piece of Don Simpson's Megaton Man and Rubber Brother which he'd already colored, and then I decided I'd make my own additions to it...Here's what I did. I did my typical attempt at creating a really bad third dimension in the coloring, and then changed some of the simpler color aspects he had on here, like now the gloves on Rubber Brother are brighter (almost fluorescent) green, and I changed the background from a dull orange to this really bright fluorescent fuscia looking color.
JK and I talked for like two hours tonight on the phone about the launch of The Ardy Vanstarr Adventures, as well, discussing how we want to add things to the website before it really gets going... does this mean I'm going to pull the 12:01 am launch? No way!
What it IS going to do though, is get us to where we want to be on the webpage design, but its going to take a bit before its exactly where we want it. So we'll still launch the comic, update it on Tuesday and Thursday, but its just going to be the simple comic to begin with. Both him and I will have to find time to add to the website design and get it to where we really want it to be...
We want it to include a gallery page, a page where you can commission either of us for art pages, character designs and bios, a blog to update progress and more, like the hit counter...
Don't expect a keenspot ad, yet for us. We probably are going to want a couple of weeks pages up before we do that, and I think we'll want the website how we want it before we advertise... but its coming...
1-31-07: ARDYVANSTARR.COM launches tomorrow!
Rob Potchak of Pots and Pans Ink and Junior Bruce Productions are proud to announce that www.ardyvanstarr.com (as well as its sister site, www.vanstarr.com) launch tomorrow, FEBRUARY 1st, 2007.
"We are extremely excited that the comic can finally start being seen, and though the Keenspot.com main page may not have a direct link to it, we wanted to start getting some pages seen by the masses in a way to guarantee that the project IS moving forward, even though the web page is very remedial at this point."
"Junior Bruce Productions will continue to work on both the art and the webpage for The Ardy Vanstarr Adventures, but we decided that NOW was the perfect time to launch the site because we feel confident that we will be able to maintain a Tuesday / Thursday update schedule for the foreseeable future. Our ultimate goal is to set up and maintain a lush website with galleries, character profiles and even creator commentaries, but the main content is going to be the most important thing as we start this venture."
"We believe that the fans will start reading this story, and as time goes on, we'll be able to deliver a truly unique webcomic experience. Both JK (the artist) and myself are behind this endeavor 100%, and are both excited to get everyone seeing our outlandish story from the beginning."
www.ardyvanstarr.com goes live at 12:01 am (PST) on 2/1/2007. Anyone looking for a new webcomic to try should check it out.

1-28-07: If you have Firefox, the site looks fine!
Other news...expect Shawn Michaels to lobby a victory at the Royal Rumble...this MAY mean that he faces UMAGA as the world champ at Wrestlemania (BOO that "main event"), or the Undertaker, so that he can strictly go into WM against Batista for the championship, since it is almost guaranteed that Kennedy does not win.
also, Christy bought me the first season of Prison Break, and YES, I already know they aren't in prison anymore...BUT, its the first season I'm watching at this moment, and though its pretty predictable, it is pretty good...definitely better than Brett Ratner's OTHER project (cough...X-Men III, BOO), but not as good as 24 or HOUSE. However, I must say that similar to how their sister network hooked me with the SHIELD, RESCUE ME and NIP/TUCK... as well as enjoying THIEF, Fox is really ramping up their suspense thrillers...good for them!
finally, information about something those that HAVE checked out robpotchak.com have probably seen already...a logo for something called comicartjam.com... This is my answer to something JK (*******) has been trying to get me to do for about a year, now...joining a art club with critiquing art space...funny thing is, though, that I've decided I'm not just going to join one... I'm going to start one. I'm currently looking into bulletin boards with EASY pasting of art, and will be looking to post this bad boy soon...so yes, there's new stuff coming from me. I just completed a piece of THE PUNISHER, a couple SPIDER-MAN pieces and a little more.
Ooh, one more tidbit about ardyvanstarr.com... I currently believe as the chapters end, JK and I will be utilizing full color chapter covers...now I haven't really discussed it with him, but I like toying with coloring and all, so I think this is something that we'll get more into as we go along. Now, unfortunately these will take up one day's worth of updates, but it'll be more complete art, since it'll be colored...more on this after JK and I have discussed it fully...and if I start referring to JK as Junior Bruce, its because that's his only art alias, so please forgive for that if I forget to mention it.

1-27-07: WEB SITE...HELP!?!?!
Anyway, if you head over to robpotchak.com, you'll see where its now owned by someone...the sad thing is, to actually SEE the website, you have to scroll over to the right...as to why, I have NO EARTHLY IDEA...stupid godaddy.com. I decided it was time to try to get my name out there further by having a standard site that would attach all the comics, blog, store and whatnot but this trying to learn how to use ftps and shit is for the birds.
If ANYONE out there can help me specifically with moving the site to the left to get rid of that stupid godaddy.com shit, I'd appreciate it. Yes, I'm using their free webhosting but this is ridiculous.
Anywho, like I said, anyone who wants to get a sneak peek at the website, check it out...you may even see some stuff on there you didn't expect.

1-22-07: Rob Potchak draws TORCH.

Sunday, January 21, 2007
1-21-07: Day Job Blues.
Right now, if you go to ardyvanstarr.com or vanstarr.com you'll be linked to an even more basic site for KEENSPOT's basis, but the sites are online...we again will have stuff popping up soon.
Keep the faith, true believers...we WILL have original content soon.
Any other Wrestling fan realized there is NO reason to watch WWE product anymore? Yeah, me too...bored with it...and that's fine, but I really wish they'd move TNA to two hours on Thursday...its finally getting some momentum.
In today's football games, I'll take the Colts and the Saints...why? Because I think they are the better teams. If the Saints get out to a 14 point lead, the Bears are done...if the game's close, it could go either way...but I'll take the Saints in it.

1-12-07: Because *I* Demanded it...NEW T-SHIRTS!
The original ringer is still available a the store...I just couldn't bring myself to tear it down...I just love that design so much...$14.99
It can be found here:
www.cafepress.com/potchak.48166521
The new Ash Grey shirt can be found here...$14.99

http://www.cafepress.com/potchak.100204727
And finally, the new VALUE T-shirt (only $9.99) is located here:
http://www.cafepress.com/potchak.100207189
Please help support the "Rob Potchak needs to pay his mortgage" fund...kidding. I actually jest there, but these are pretty cool shirt designs. Oh, and HALF of any profit goes to the starving artist, JK Radtke...its just too bad I've priced these shirts so there is NO PROFIT on them... and remember pricing is set by Cafepress.com, otherwise I'd try to be even cheaper.

1-12-07: Another TAVA Promo piece

1-11-07: The Ardy Vanstarr Adventures Promo art piece...

1-8-07: TAVA updates, Civil War thoughts, more...
Okay...TAVA update...that's THE ARDY VANSTARR ADVENTURES to those without a working frontal lobe...ha, I gest. JK has sent me layouts for the first 18 pages...as soon as he blows them up, inks them and sends them to me to begin the lettering process we'll be ready to launch. Well, that and a webpage...anybody know someone that's looking to design a webpage for free, but with unlimited advertising potential that WILL reach thousands of people the day it launches? if so, contact me at RPOTCHAK@GMAIL.COM.
I'm 52 hours into ZELDA, so I haven't been doing much else, and Thursday, I begin community service...wahoo...Oh, and one last piece of info.
I'm in discussions with a cover artist of ARMY OF DARKNESS to possibly draw the main cover for Dead Sonja vs. The Army of Darktwits. I think he's one of the best guys out there and he's even drawn Ardy in the past...now if he could help me get a well-paying gig, hehe. More on this if and when we get the go-ahead.

1-4-07: THE ARDY VANSTARR ADVENTURES...SOON!
THE ARDY VANSTARR ADVENTURES.
We haven't heard me make too many mentions of it recently, because there were setbacks aplenty, and there may still be again, but the truth behind the series is that IT IS COMING. JK and I want to launch it before the end of January because we've been taking our time with it, he's been re-drawing pages that I thought looked great, and we'll be getting it all re-lettered and ready to rock. Truth be told, I am uber excited about this story finally seeing the light of day, at least the first story, and we'll be bringing it to you on what we hope will be a Tuesday/Thursday update schedule...at least at the beginning.
One thing I don't think we'll be able to deliver is full color, but a lot of good online comics maintain their highquality standards even without being in color (look at everythingjake.com as a great example, and a good plug for my boy Mike Rosenzweig).
I say we want to get it running by the end of the month because we both have dayjobs, we both have a lot on our plates, but overall, we want to deliver the goods, baby...
No promises, just a firm belief we'll be able to hit the launch window, so we can get this bacon to start frying.
Oh, and HAPPY NEW YEAR.

12-30-06: Who thought *I* would be on James (THE CROW) O'Barr's website?!

12-30-06: And Inside look at where the PS3 will WIN and LOSE the wars...
Let's start with what we know about the videogame industry since Playstation 2 and X-Box launched.
When PS2 launched, it was all alone on top of the industry with no end in sight, and why? There was no competition, and there was no X-Box. The pricetag was $299.99 and this was at the time the least expensive DVD player on the market (now for $129.99 it is one of the more expensive ones). Two major directors VOWED to NEVER place their movies on DVD before this launch, and their names just happen to be Spielberg and Lucas.
One year later, Microsoft is determined to beat Sony in the gaming world, launching their own massive box, at exactly the same pricepoint. The only problem is, that at this point, videogame store walls are covered with about 120 titles of PS2 materials, and we are still seeing PS1 games made at this point that play on the PS2. Microsoft NEVER catches Sony, and never is accepted in Japan.
The big thing to recall here is that Sony REMAINED at 299.99...but now, with the massive amounts of units available, and the large library, those two movie directors started noticing that A LOT of people had DVD players in homes now...hmm....
Sony wins this round, no doubt about it. Games like Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid (sure #2 finally made its way to Xbox, but come on, they never got to see #3), not to mention the year waits between getting to play Grand Theft Autos finally made people realize that the PS2 was the leader, and it didn't matter that the X-Box was a BETTER GAMING SYSTEM...if you don't agree, shut up, you are probably also the person that will then say, "But I miss my Dreamcast..." which proves my point...sometimes the best system does NOT win...or last.
Now that the history lesson is done, let's weigh the systems.
XBOX 360 PRO (launches November 2005) - $399.99
The core system was ONLY launched at 299.99 because Microsoft was afraid that NO ONE would forgive them for NOT hitting the 299.99 pricepoint of the prior generation, and is simply put...A FOOLS BARGAIN...its perfect if you are buying a gift, but if you are buying it for yourself, don't be an imbecile...buy the pro system...its $200 of accessories that YOU WILL BUY.
HD CABLES INCLUDED
HEADSET INCLUDED
ETHERNET CABLE INCLUDED
WIRELESS CONTROLLER INCLUDED
HARDDRIVE INCLUDED (20gb)
Does it go above and beyond in technology, nah...but does it need to? No...it utilizes TRIED AND TRUE mentality inside a nicely sculpted box...
By November 2006...160 games in the library...ALL IN HD, and ALL IN DOLBY PRO-LOGIC. Total video output suport...as of November 12th...1080P...that's right, P, not I as it was when the system launched...why is this important? Sony announced they were the only one capable of it.
November 2006 marks the launch of the PS3...Top Pricepoint 599.99...
Yikes...let's look back at that history lesson...Ps2 led and had the same price...XBox360 was now out, had 140 more games available AND ...AND...AND...a $200 pricebreak...IF you didn't want HD MOVIES available.
This is where the PS3 will fail...on the gaming end. Sure, it'll still be there at the end of this generation, and it is because the longstanding name both here and in Japan. But it won't be #1 this generation, and will probably send Sony back to the drawing board faster because of the fall to #2...a strategy that hurts everyone from Sony to us, the consumers.
alright, now lets look at the 599.99 system...
60gb Harddrive
WiFi enabled AND ethernet available
standard video cables included
memory card reader (SD, Memory Stick Duo and Compact Flash)
One wireless controller on one of the 7 BLUETOOTH channels
BLU-RAY video player
1080P resolution and 7.1 Digital Sound capable.
Okay, so for 599.99, you get one controller in the box, and one USB cable...but y'know what sucks? You have to BUY an HDMI cable to get 1080P resolution ($79.99), you have to buy a headset (Bluetooth, good headset...79.99) and if you need ethernet, add another $30 for that.
So literally another $200 in accessories to give you everything Microsoft has out of box... that's crazy...so sure, you can pay $50 a year for Xbox live, and pay $200 for the HD-DVD drive, but that's STILL LESS for everything...DON'T LET SONY FOOL YOU!
Okay...I've give you enough crap as to where Sony will fail, or IS ALREADY FAILING, and let's get to the last one...
BLU-RAY DISCS...OWNED BY SONY...PROPRIETARY SOFTWARE FORMAT...ARGH! Not another Sony Proprietary software piece...can we look at ALL THE FAILED ONES from the past? SURE...Betamax. DEAD. Mini-Disc. DEAD. UMD...might as well be DEAD. And finally, Blu-Ray...hm...
Anyone who says it will fail specifically because its a Sony Proprietary Software method may be onto something, but with me...I'm not so hard to judge, and let me explain...
Here's where Blu-Ray will FORCE success...
Right now, the Playstation 3 is the LEAST EXPENSIVE option for a Blu-Ray player, which shows very similar to that last DVD thingee...the PS2...But that's not why it'll succeed, its only something that someone with the HDTV and surround sound system will use to help justify the system to their wives, but it in no way is what will help it succeed.
Raw Numbers will. Think about this. Let's say Sony's sales EQUAL Microsoft from the 360 to the PS3 in their first years respectively...this would mean that there would be about 10million or so PS3's IN HOMES as early as the end of December 2007. Do you know what this means?
IF THAT WERE THE CASE...THERE WOULD BE 10 MILLION BLU-RAY PLAYERS IN HOMES ALREADY...
Let's be more realistic, however. Let's say 6 million by the end of business on December 31st, 2007...almost exactly one year from today...Blu-Ray would OWN the market. There'd be no choice at that point. And you can't argue that both would make it...the ONLY way that's going to happen is if Phillips patented disc that allows DVD/HDDVD/BLU-RAY all on one disc starts making its way to mainstream market AT A REASONABLE VALUE.
So there you have it folks, sure, it wasn't all the numbers I probably made it sound like it was going to be, but it is the cold hard truth...360 will win the game war this time, but I think if Sony can keep getting PS3s into homes, you will have a BLU-RAY player if you want HD movies...
What does everyone else think? Are my arguments valid?

12-25-06: Christmas and a ZUNE plug
Now, subject matter. Want to throw a note out there to everyone that hasn't been able to get in touch with me recently...please, don't take it personally, I've been sick since my birthday (Friday) and can't seem to get well, and with no other days off from the day job this week, I have to take every real spare moment I have to sleep and rest. I haven't been this sick in a long time.
Alright, now to what I got for Christmas.
My mom and dad actually gave me THE ABSOLUTE SANDMAN VOL. 1 from DC comics...now this is great, because its one of the Absolutes I did NOT have since I started collecting them (I started with Batman: Hush), but this was one of the two I did not get recently (NEW FRONTIER being the other). It is an omnibus style oversized hardcover that clocks in at about 650 pages. It contains the first 20 issues of Neil Gaiman's series and the first 18 of which are completely recolored from Gaiman's personal notes. It also includes the entire script and sketches from #19, as well as an intro by DC Publisher, Paul Levitz and the entire premise for the series written by Gaiman that led to the series...this is a treasure for any true comic fan.
The parents also gave my wife and myself money for assorted needs.
I received quite a bit in giftcards from both sisters and their husbands, so that ought to help supply me somewhere...my brother and my wife's brother gave me FAMILY GUY and RED STEEL respectively (haven't played either)...Christy's aunt gave us a tv stand for the bedroom and her parents gave me some candy, some nicknacks, and then some really cool stuff... a Notre Dame placemat for outside, as well as..,oh yeah...THE GREEN BRADY QUINN jersey. Here's hoping that Jimmy Clausen decides that #10 is the number he's gonna want to wear.
Christy, not to be outdone gave me a kit of goodies for my nintendo ds lite with like 10 accessories in it, the first season of Prison Break from Brett Ratner, the second season of Entourage and then...the motherload...the ULTIMATE SUPERMAN COLLECTION...
This baby has it all. SUPERMAN...SUPERMAN THE EXPANDED CUT...SUPERMAN II...SUPERMAN II THE RICHARD DONNER CUT...SUPERMAN III...SUPERMAN IV...SUPERMAN RETURNS and then like 8 other discs...this thing is HUUUUUGE! It's awesome and just what I wanted!
Don't you love when you get exactly what you ask for?
Alright, and now my ZUNE plug. Ever since I received the Zune from Microsoft...no check that, ever since I heard about this product from Microsoft, I've thought its better than your standard iPod...now, please, don't tell my wife, because I gave her a NANO for Christmas, but this Zune... wow. Let's just talk about the features.
30 GIGS...yikes, that a lot of space. That's 1/7 of my harddrive.
music, pics and video...too many possibilities.
NO COMPRESSION and TV OUT...this means just hook up the right cable and watch your videos on your tv!
WIFI...streaming baby!
FM tuner BUILT IN!
and finally...$15 a month for UNLIMITED DOWNLOADS...are they crazy?! That's like only 15 songs from iTunes...
Guys, seriously...with everything this product has to offer, if you are considering an mp3/mp4 player, don't just go with #1 because it says its the best...do your research...I'm beginning to think this thing IS the best...
Well, g'night, all...I have to be up at 5:30 am, so I want you all to enjoy the rest of your holiday... I have to prepare for the nightmare that is the day after christmas.

12-17-06: Critics and artists agree, DEAD SONJA IS A HIT!

If you’re like Owen Gieni and Robert Blatant, you combine the two and come up with Dead Sonja. Yes, it’s a zombie version of Red Sonja. Is it unique? That would depend on the execution. If it’s successful, does this mean we will see more zombie parodies in our future? Quite possibly. Use that as a determination on whether or not you want to buy this book.
Owen Gieni (W), Robert Blatant & various (A), Blatant Comics, $9.99. One-shot
Writer Rob Potchak Jr. and publisher Blatant Comics get plenty of points for marketing genius, coming up with one of the best and most inspired titles for a comic book this year, and one that pretty much sums up the current state of the industry's mainstream. But then they lose those points and more for delivering a dreadfully unfunny and occasionally even shockingly offensive parody story.
The book takes zombie comics and barbarian comics, the two most popular non-superhero genres of the moment, and squishes them together into a book whose title is a clever rhyming riff on Red Sonja, whose current publishers no doubt wish they had thought of making a book by this title first.
But much like the already forgotten movie Snakes on a Plane, the title is the best part of the experience, and once you get past that, it's all downhill. "

12/13/06: Dead Sexy...
Today, I received copies of DEAD SONJA #1 from the publisher, and I have to say, I'm still really impressed with the book, and I'm even MORE impressed that they sent me 15 of the 400 limited edition copies...which I am trying to think of what to do with them.
I have discussed with Owen Gieni's collaborator, Chris Crosby, about offering the book on their website, somethumbsonline.com as a way to try to get people to see that as much as Owen likes drawing cutesy characters, he can draw one hell of a zombie, as well.
I've also offered to Chris to letter the remaining pages of LANDIS, so that we may yet see it in print form, since I'd like to start passing around a movie treatment, and I think the book in graphic novel format would help solidify us trying to sell a real project. I know some online comics have made it bigtime and even signed tv deals, but most of us get laughed at and worked over for trying to claim we're just as popular as the big boys in print.
Oh...before I forget...its PLUG time. Ryan Stegman, former artist linked to a title called LANDIS (originally scheduled to draw issues 5-7 of the series), has made his way to big and better things. He started working with Chuck Saterlee and Markosia last year, but this year, when he started drawing a title for the Dabel Brothers (Magician's Apprentice), I bet he never thought he'd be working indirectly for Marvel. Well, with Dabel's new agreement to print their books through Marvel, Ryan now technically works for them. I think this is great news for him, as it is definitely one of his dreams. And don't let him say he was never drawing Landis, either, because I've seen the pages...hehe. Congrats dude, you worked hard, got yourself to the speed and quality you needed to, and now you are there!
Achem...time for you to tell them about your friend who you think is a diamond in the rough writer, hehe...kidding!
Suggestions on what I should do with the copies of Dead Sonja?

12/9/06: Stop asking if we have it in stock...
So on the comic update thing, JK and I are talking about launching THE ARDY VANSTARR ADVENTURES sometime in January, and though he kind of wants to change the name, I like the long extensiveness of it, and think that it'll remain that long title, since calling it something simple like VANSTARR would be too cliche for me, since my other title is named directly after the last name of my other character. However, I've always wanted to call a series, ARDY, so who knows, we may yet do that.
Also, I'm currently writing the first portion of a HALO parody called HALLO! which is about a guy by the name of MASTER CHEF works on a cooking show for The United Planets Network (UPN) and it gets bought out by the COVENANT WORLDWIDE (CW). I'll leave the story there for now, don't want to give too much away, but needless to say, its a pretty fun story so far. Look for it to be a 64 page graphic novel due in the first quarter next year...
More Dead Sonja? Maybe. Right now, I'm lobbying to get Freddie Blatant III to actually publish a sequel to the hit oneshot, DEAD SONJA: SHE-ZOMBIE WITH A SWORD... and I'm really trying to get Blatant to let me do the DEAD SONJA VS. ARMY OF DARKTWITS story that I really want to write. I'd say we may see something like this in June ish, if they'll give it the greenlight.
Oh, BTW, DEAD SONJA #1 has been doing pretty darn well in the review department...at least with whom I've asked from the local shops. No real written reviews from any reputable places, but I'm proud of what I wrote, and I believe all those artists are really proud of what they drew, since I think its one of the best LOOKING parodies ever drawn.

11/29/06: MORE GREAT NEWS...THE ARDY VANSTARR ADVENTURES RELATED!

11/29/06: DEAD SONJA: SHE-DEVIL WITH A SWORD SHIPS TODAY!!!
And that's just what it is. I want to thank Chris Crosby for setting me up with Freddie J Blatant III and Robert Blatant. I REALLLLLLY want to thank Owen Gieni (the art director and part 2 artist, as well as the former artist of the HIT SERIES Landis), AP Furtado (the artist of part one and hit books like Elf N Troll and serials in Heavy Metal) and Remy "Eisu" Mokhtar (the artist of part three and at least one Keenspot title I'm silly for forgetting). Without you folks, this book wouldn't be as beautiful as it was.
Let's be honest, nobody buys a parody book for the story, they all buy it for the gorgeous artwork, and I have to flat out state that this is one of the BEST looking parody books I've ever been associated with, though a close second was EboniX-Men/EboniX-Files with art by the aforementioned AP Furtado and Rob Nikolakakis.
I am really proud of this book, and if you CAN NOT find a copy, PLEASE, let me know, I'll be more than happy to strangle a few people in attempts to fulfill demand, and I will be offering signed copies through here as soon as I have them available.
Also, feel free to drop by the LANDIS forum and drop a note about what you thought about the book, as I'd really enjoy feedback from everyone.
Thanks so much!

11/25/06: Got my PS3, a little other stuff and more.
That's right. Anyone who didn't know that the PS3 was a non-region format system missed out. It allows for 4 types of video formats, and in most situations, can do a 720p movie on about a 4.4gb setup (meaning a DVD) and show it in all its glory. This is A HUGE thing, since it was probably something they at Sony overlooked when making the non-region coded system.
I'm not one for pirating software, but the fact that you can use a pay site and download movies and whatnot is awesome.
So today we did a heck of a lot of business, and it was really tiring, but I'm still up a total of 5 hours before I have to get up again to be at work tomorrow. Why? can't sleep. Was playing WII sports for a while and love it...the game is just so perfect. I just wish the company I work for would allow me to take my copy and place it into the system at work, because it would show (MUCH BETTER) than EXCITE TRUCK, exactly WHY you want a Wii.
I'm trying to write more on this blog recently, but I've been working so much that it makes it harder. I know with the contract I signed for KEENSPOT, I have to write at least once a week, and I'm attempting to.
I want to know what everyone else thinks of the Wii and PS3, since the premiums they are going for online probably isn't necessary, since they'll be readily available in March-ish...with Wii having more unit sales that either the 360 or the PS3 by then. (Just speculation on that one).
so tomorrow is Notre Dame AT USC for ND's final regular season game...and they get no love. YES...they lost by 24 to Michigan, but doesn't anyone remember that Michigan is a top 10 team? What about the 2 point loss for USC by ORegon State? Two points? Sorry, they were down by 21 in that game and made it close...I DO NOT buy the fact that they are looked at as the second best team.
Notre Dame struggled against Michigan and against UCLA, but are 1-1 in those games. They lost to a team that was then rated #2...USC lost to an UNRANKED team...what does this mean? Notre Dame SHOULD be HIGHER rated than USC, since the only team they lost to is respectibly better, and USC struggled against sub-par Stanford, Washington and lost to UNRANKED Oregon State...UNRANKED! I'd rather see Michigan get another shot at the NCAA title...or Florida, who's only loss is to a top 25 team...but Notre Dame's loss to a #2 team should put them higher than ANY TEAM that lost to an UNRANKED TEAM.
SCREW ESPN for their love of Pete Carroll and what he's done with USC...what'd he do with the Jets? Oh yeah...shit. Screw them for their bias against Notre Dame, who in the last 4 weeks DID NOT face two teams with two wins or less like Ohio State and Michigan...and let's be serious here...
Brady Quinn is going HIGHER in the draft than Troy Smith...and when Troy Smith FUMBLES twice in the biggest game of the year (CAUSING TURNOVERS)...in the Heisman Chase...it gets overlooked. But Brady Quinn has one bad game in two years, and suddenly he's out... Who cares if he throws for more yards, higher completion percentage, less ints, it's all about the NEGATIVE BIAS towards Notre Dame.
Give me a break. Quinn created names like STOVALL (in the NFL now), FASANO (in the NFL now), Samardjia (first round pick next year), Carlson (first TE to be picked when he leaves) and took a team that was mediocre at best and helped make it one of the most potent Offense's out there. You are NOT going to tell me that Troy Smith did the same.
Sorry, you can't. He walked in and stayed in the same system all along.
Now if you want to tell me the reason we don't want to see Notre Dame vs. Ohio State again is because Ohio State would trounce them...I might agree with you, but when you are an idiot at ESPN saying the "ONLY matchup worth the hyps is USC vs. Ohio State" you are mistaken. Ohio State is CLEARLY #1, but then let the BEST one loss team face them...Notre Dame (lost to #2) or Florida (lost to Arkansas) play for the title...early losses don't mean as much as late losses...so let'm figure it out.
Now if USC BEATS ND, then its a different ballgame, because THEN USC has beaten a top 5 team.

11/22/06: WII Review
The Wii-mote and Nunchuk controllers take little if no time to get used to, and if you turn the sensitivity all the way up, are seamless in their movement and ease. Once you pick these up and get to play something like Zelda with them, you don't want to turn back to the conventional controller of the 360.
The graphics are nicer looking than the gamecube, if you have an HD tv, and a component cable will be available before Christmas to give the system 480p graphics, however, this system IS NOT ABOUT GRAPHICS...
For the first time EVER, my wife wants to play. She loves Wii Bowling from the Wii Sports lineup, and I have to say, if it has her wanting to game, then it is DEFINITELY moving in the right direction.
For cosmetics and all, this system is small, quiet and overall not an eyesore. The interface (the WiiChannels) are extremely easy to use, and with the browser coming in the near future, I can see myself checking my GMail account from it, rather than going to the computer to do it.
Nintendo hit the mark on this one, folks...its no wonder everyone is now looking for one.

11-14-06: Prestige, PS3, and more...
First we'll start with the not so good news. SONY COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT of AMERICA sent EB/Gamestop the amount of orders for the Playstation 3, and lets just say they were less than stellar. I'm not slamming MY company with this statement, but imagine having to tell people that you DO NOT expect to be able to fill their order until possibly the 24th of December.
The thing that bugs me about this is simple. I pre-ordered one. In fact, my wife waiting in the morning until I opened up and was the first person there. Now to avoid problems with picking it up, I made sure that both of our names had been added to the listing. NOW...NOW I'm being told I can't pick it up. "No employees will be allowed to pick theirs up one day one," was the statement I received from the company, to which I say this is unfair. The amount of people picking these up on day one and selling them on EBAY is about 90% of the initial orders, and we all know it. However, an employee would lose his job if he placed it on EBAY...meaning...the employee who ordered one is more likely to be the beneficial customer you want to have pick a unit up.
Anyway, just figured I'd vent that.
Christy and I went to see THE PRESTIGE last night, Chris Nolan's first film since Batman Begins. Let me start by saying I enjoyed it, though it ran a little long. The casting was terrific, as if any time Michael Caine is cast he isn't money right now, but Jackman and Bale really gave you that Batman vs. Wolverine feel that you wanted to see. Its just too bad that in some cases bullets were used instead of batarangs and birdcages were used instead of claws.
Throughout the movie, there was a competitive nature, but it was a very sad film. It was all about seeing who was the better magician, but never who was the better man. It was really interesting to see these characters in such a world where CPR is unavailable, and seeing how they cope with the anguish of everything going on.
The idea that a magician only sells his trick AFTER he retires was pretty cool of a plot point, as well, since both of these men grew on obsession, and neither would quit until one of them was declared the victor.
While not spoiling the end, the movie takes a "Sixth Sense" approach, but one that unfortunately should be spotted right away.
Nolan goes more for his melodrama of MEMENTO than his visual wizardry of BATMAN BEGINS in this film, and that's part of the reason I feel I enjoyed it so much. He keeps you thinking, but again, I felt dropped too many clues about the end well before it ended. Towards the end, it seems to feel like its running long, but you forgive him for tying up the plot.
I liked it, and would recommend it to anyone that has enjoyed his movies.

11/8/06: Court Case...Closed.
Luckily, I've been able to postpone everything until the end of the holiday season (besides the loss of license), but my lawyer was able to make sure that I got a fully provisional license, and not have the interlock device (the blower to make sure you aren't drinking and driving) installed.
While it was a win (no interlock), it was also a loss (conviction). I had the possibility of going for a full not guilty, but it looked as though the judge was going to go with the DA's side, even though they had no proof I was driving, they felt the case was strong enough, so I admitted to driving, and they saw that I was not the type that would be a detriment to society...
Anyway, that's what's up with all that. Thanks to anyone and everyone who said they hoped things would work out...its a little depressing, but it looks like I'll make it through...
Now I just have to figure out how to pay for my car insurance.
Later all!

10-31-06: Thoughts on this football season.
Notre Dame lost to Michigan...NOW the #2 team in the BCS standings...USC, however, loses to Oregon State...who? Exactly. They aren't ranked in the top 25, and they are nobody special. Their record against USC in the last 32 years? 2-30.
Why then...is Notre Dame ranked lower, when they lost to the second best team in College football, and even beat a Penn State team by 24 that Michigan could not just put away even AFTER knocking TWO quarterbacks out...?
You see, this is stuff I don't understand. I was looking at the schedules for both Michigan and Ohio State...does anyone realize that in the next two weeks, both teams go up against opponents that are a combined 4-14? Sure, Notre Dame has some cupcakes in the next three weeks, too, a combined 7-17, so I guess I shouldn't complain too much, but come on. Look at the teams Notre Dame played already, and tell me their schedule wasn't tough?
Georgia Tech? They could win the ACC...
Penn St? They lost to Michigan by 7 with only having their 3rd string QB.
Michigan? yeah, they lost to them...but look at that team? Stacked.
MSU? They've lost to Michigan, Ohio State and Penn...without those three games on their schedule, they're 4-2, and then if they had teams like Oregon State, they're probably 6-2/7-2ish.
Purdue? 5-4 playing in the Big Ten
Stanford...okay boo them for their killing the opponent's record stat
UCLA? Weren't they top ten last year? Sure its rebuilding, but they are decent.
Navy? They were 5-2 facing ND
Forget the next three and look at USC...6-1, losing to a no-name, and for four straight weeks, having trouble beating ANYONE...yet they are the #9 team...
When you look at the records and the games...Texas got spanked by OSU, yet they are ahead of ND, and they had to rally from 21 down to beat Texas Tech...who?
Ultimately, you can ask ANYONE I talked to before the season this year...I FLAT OUT said that the team to watch was Rutgers. My buddy Arnie went there, and I said it after their bowl game victory last year, and I would LOOOOOVE for them to beat Louisville and West Virginia...why? Because then they deserve to play OSU for the National Champion...or Michigan.
Well, I'm tired of ranting about this topic now, but seriously...Notre Dame's schedule has two EASY games on it (and one is this week)...but So do OSU, Michigan, USC, WVU, FSU and every other team out there...All the haters need to shut up...the style Charlie brings to the game is this..."DID WE WIN? THEN SHUT UP AND MOVE US UP THE POLL..." And finally "If we continue to win...we deserve to be in the playoff to determine the champion..."
Thats right, I am talking 8 team playoff...
First round: Nokia Sugar Bowl
First Round: Rose Bowl
Second Round: Fiesta Bowl
Second Round: Orange Bowl
Championship game: NEW BOWL GAME...
How hard is that?! Christ.

10-29-06: Real World Wake Up call moment.
Here's the problem with this situation. Apparently, said assistant manager has had this problem for over a week. I'm one for toughing it out, too, so this issue is something where I would probably end up being guilty of the same thing, but the problem lies here...if you are puking blood...see a doctor. If you are shitting blood, same thing. These are true words to live by. He waited...and waited...and waited...to the only time I had off, rather than going to the doctor/hospital when it first started, so that by the weekend, he should be well rested, and while I'd be cranky having to do this for anyone, I would have still had my day off, rather than having to pull at least another 6 day work week...
See, I don't mind having to work open to close...that's not a problem. I have a serious issue with not getting my time off. It isn't his fault, and mainly, it is the company's fault for not allowing a fourth keyholder, because it forces the manager to make UNHEALTHY LIFE DECISIONS. You find yourself asking questions like, "Can you come in anyway?" and "When will you be back?" But not getting the answers you want to hear, thus creating a void in work.
And who ends up the sickest? The manager that doesn't get to rest, is unappreciated for all his ass-busting hard work, and doesn't get to spend time with his wife and family because of the stupid fucking system.
Its a retarded world we live in, and forcing me to do things that I don't want to do because it hurts my livelihood is exactly why I hate retail and why if anyone would offer me $15 an hour to sell...I'd jump at the opportunity because I don't want the burden, and all I DO want is to do what I do best, but in my situation...that's just not possible.

10-24-06: Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe = buyrate...
I'm working over 50 hours a week and just plain exhausted by the time I get home. When I get there, I throw Splinter Cell: Double Agent into the 360 and pretend to be Sam Fisher. The guy has it all. He is a good guy, a bad guy and he's trying to kill a couple thousand people to save the lives of millions...all while trying to stay on the right side of the law. Its a terrific concept and one that NEEDS to be turned into a comic book (I'D WRITE IT! Hello?!)
With the comics, Eric sent me the whole penciled first issue of TAGGER, and he's outdoing himself on ever page. He's trying new things, making it work and really putting in a better effort than I've seen. Hopefully we'll be able to get something started with this project in early 2007 to start getting the LANDIS site updated again. I used to love watching the hits run in, and its a shame that it was only a miniseries...
I've not been able to letter any more of the pages of ARDY from JK, either, with all the work being done, but when I get some time to myself, I'll be doing it.
And I really hate this no online gambling act that got passed...that's ridiculous... give me back my freedom to lose money whereever I please...PLEASE!
I'll try to be more communicative, folks, sorry I haven't been :(

10-11-06: Tagger Pages.
Dead Sonja is great. I have now seen all the art pages, and must say that Freddie Blatant III should be proud with what these artists did. This book looks GOOD.
They want me to do a Halo parody, next, so I'm doing research...however, with my job getting crazier for the holidays (yeah, its a little ways off, but it started yesterday with the pre-orders for PS3), I may have to pass on this assignment, whether I'd want to (which I don't) or not.
Well, gotta run...and no, we're not taking Nintendo Wii preorders, yet...though when we are, it'll be all over the net...just not on my blog :).

10/2/06: PS3, Wii, and much much more...
Working for Gamestop Corp, they sent all store managers to TX for a company wide training...which had 4500 managers, and 600 DMs and all the Corporate people there. This was a HUGE event, as vendors included EA, Vivendi, Activision, NC Soft, Ubisoft, Sega, THQ, Lucas Arts...and Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft.
Here's what we learned.
- There's a new Star Wars game that allows you to play as a CORRUPT side, and this means you can do crazy things like strap bombs to Ewoks and send them in and explode...
- Rayman: Ravin' Rabbids will be HUGE and you will ALLLLLL love the advertising for them. I actually suggested placing the ads ON THE DISC as unlockable content, so that'd be awesome.
- NINTENDO is READY with the Wii. Reggie (the Head of Nintendo of America) told us that Gamestop will be THE ONLY RETAILER with demo units for people to walk in and play. This is HUGE...
- Microsoft will have us selling the ZUNE, so expect Gamestop to go all out with this product, and I'd expect it to sell throughout Christmas with us, especially since they have noted that our top 1000 selling stores WILL RECEIVE A ZUNE AND A 360...wow! Peter Moore himself was there to let us in on all this info... and flew from Tokyo to Spain to Texas to get there for us...awesome.
- PS3 looks great, but Microsoft is ready with 60 new titles coming out towards the end of the year.
- There is SOOOO much going on to help poise Gamestop into the next couple years, and blowing away expectations once again.
Mainly for everyone wondering, the new TUROK game looks INCREDIBLE. Seriously.
Nintendo's Wii with Metroid, Zelda and Trauma Center will REDEFINE the gaming Genres... they are really good games and are VERY intuitive. These are really pushing Nintendo BACK into the limelight...this is huge news for the industry... and the Wii sports that will come in the package...Tennis is great, and Warioware is going to rock, as well.
GEARS OF WAR is JUST AS GOOD as you've heard. THIS IS THHHHEEEEE Shooter of the year, hands down. It's incredible.
DEF JAM rom EA is going to be a top notch fighter with environments that fight back, great shit.
Indiana Jones and all NEXT Gen Star Wars games are going to be great with the Immersion technology. It is software that is intuitive instead of pre-rendered... its really impressive to watch the characters and environments break more realisticly. This was a great piece of info that you should try to find online.
Best of Show:
- Wii...nuff said
- 360's upcoming plans
- Rayman (the Commercials MADE the weekend)
- Gears of War (Just gorgeous)
- Jamie Kennedy and Tom Green showing up.
- Our Scarface contest that will allow a manager to show up in an upcoming game.
- Lucas Arts presentation
- Resistance
- God of War II
- Def Jam
- ZUNE...you heard it hear first...let me know if you want to reserve one.
SO MUCH great stuff...and the fact that nintendo gave us $250 worth of stuff, Microsoft gave us another $350, Sony even jumped in this year giving us three games (they are afraid of losing market share)...
Lots of GREAT stuff coming...and I for one, am giggling like a school girl...
It was a great show, but the 18 hour workdays followed by getting sick were NOT on the menu...
Hope this lets everyone know why I hadn't logged any time in a while...have a great one.

9/21/06: FIRST LOOK: The Ardy Vanstarr Adventures

As you all can see, here's the first page of THE ARDY VANSTARR ADVENTURES from JK Radtke and Myself. I'm placing this up here so that everyone can see what the final product is beginning to take shape like.
Of course, if JK tells me to take it down, I'll have to, but hopefully he'll let me place this up here and be happy :).
NO, this is NOT THE OFFICIAL LAUNCH of the site...the site is far from ready, and we won't launch the comic through keen until it IS ready...I just wanted to give everyone a sneak peek at the first page.
9/21/06: Cupcakes and Brownies...is it my birthday?!
AP Furtado has turned in his whole 16 pages of DEAD SONJA already and he makes me so happy to beg for him to do it in the first place. I can't wait to see what Owen does with his pages...its almost upsetting that I haven't spoken with Owen in what seems like years, since he is such a great talent. I guess he's afraid I'll bug him until he works with me, again, too, hehe. It's okay, I don't really do that anymore, but I'm happy to see that he's working on some serious projects that he cares about and puts 100% into all of them.
I've been lettering the pages for TAVA, and I'm up to page 8 right now. Its going faster than expected. I can typically do five or six pages in one sitting before I tire in boredom with it, though I have to admit that being able to do it yourself is 100% easier and CHEAPER than hiring someone else...not to mention although I know JK has lettered in the past, I wanted to take a more active role, so that he only really has to worry about the artwork side of it. I ask his opinion where some of the larger caption balloons need to go, because I don't want to cover up all of his backgrounds...of course in panels without backgrounds, I have the leisure of placing them wherever I like, :).
I'll give an update on TAGGER soon, as I want to get in touch with Eric and see how its coming along. No rush on that story, as he's attempting to put in at least AS much effort with the pages, if not more than the original Landis. And then, after four or so issues of that, we'll jump back into THIEF, which I am still struggling with an end for...
hm...so that's pretty much what's going on here...

9/19/06: Been a while, time for an update.
Dread is a character that JK and I created probably about 3-5 years ago (I know its a big window, but I keep losing track of years), and he was to be an intergalactic bounty hunter. Then, when we started TAVA, I sat there while writing, and while instant messaging with JK, I said, "Why don't we put Dread Mutt into the first story?" And he loved the idea. The way I look at him as a character is if you mix Lobo with his dog...that's when you get Dread...though he looks more like a Boxer (the kind of dog).
So the wife and I are fighting again because I told her she isn't allowing enough time for us to spend together. She has this great habit of saying she'll be home by a certain time, and then not being there...and it only seems to happen when it is "our night together." I don't think there is anyone else, and I know that she's always had a rough time with being timely, but some things NEED to be important enough to allow for you to spend it with them...and recently, I just don't feel like I'm important enough to her. My home life is what makes me work so hard in my day job, and even with the comics I write and produce. I NEED to go at it 100%, because for any of these things to actually put money in my pocket and our bank account, I need to do it how I do...but at the same time, its because my home life and lifestyle are SO important to me that I need to feel important at home, as well.
We treat people how we want to be treated, and for me, its respect me because I show you respect. I don't show up late, I do what I say I will, and I accomplish what needs to be done...and that's mainly all I ask for...and yet, it seems so hard for some people to give that...
So with all of that, I'm going to leave and try to letter some more pages.

9/15/06: A Lot Closer to being ready for launch.
Also, court case was postponed again, not something my lawyer wanted, but we deal with it...
Dead Sonja looks like its going to be a decent sized Hit, which in the indy market means turns a profit. Now with AP (Heavy Metal) Furtado and Owen (Landis, Sore Thumbs) Gieni on board, this project is really shaping up...I wonder who Freddie Blatant III is going to get as the third artist...?
Other than that, we're coming into a time of year that I should love, but really don't, due to working in retail...Christmas. The hiring process for this time of year and everything has me wanting to pull my hair out, not to mention that my Asst. Manager quit and my third key left to Circuit City...though he's still with me at least. Anyway, because of this, I may not be able to write as much, but I'll see what I can do.

9/12/06: TAVA PROMO PIECE, and other rants...

This is a piece of THE ARDY VANSTARR ADVENTURES of both ARDY and TORCH, (Ardy of which is TM and (C) Rob Potchak, and Torch which is TM and (C) JK Radtke). I really like it, and JK wants to point out that it was colored solely in Sharpie Markers... I like it, its raw feel and its final feel that I can never seem to show in my art.
See, I told everyone that this project IS coming...and it will, but not until JK and I feel its ready to roll.
I've been getting an itch to draw again, but I'm not sure what I want to draw. I broke my digital camera the other day, which was upsetting, since I was going to take photos of real life things and try to convert them into a comic page for fun.
September 10th, I celebrated my one year wedding anniversary. I gave Christy sheet music of our song (though she'll probably get it tomorrow of the next day), which is Train's DROPS OF JUPITER. Why sheet music? Because the first anniversary is the PAPER anniversary.
If you don't know how much better of a theatre experience you get in your home with a home theatre system for sound, you are missing out. I scare the shit out of the dogs by playing STAR WARS and TERMINATOR 2, now...they just don't know where its all coming from...its awesome. Just the experience of buying it could have been left without. The manager at Bestbuy did not want to sell me what I wanted and even said, "I'm not going to help you..." because the item I wanted was on sale...funny how that works? No wonder, my buddy Fubar, who has worked for Best Buy for five years just quit because of their assininess...heh, I think I made up a word.
So I have a favorite new online casino game, and its called 3 card poker. Its a game where a lot of money can be won or lost...I think I actually like it more than Texas Hold'm...
I met Cam Ward today...he won the Con Smythe award for Most Valuable Player throughout the playoffs in hockey. He apparently is a regular in my store, so it was funny talking to him about playing AS him in the NHL 2007 demo...I probably sounded like such a geek...though talking about what he did with the Stanley cup is funny, especially since one of his teammates did a Keg Crawl with it...hehe.
My store got secret shopped at get this...3pm on a Saturday afternoon, IN A MALL THAT IS HIGH TRAFFIC...did we pass? Hell no...why? Because it was Saturday... 3pm... WITH TWENTY TWO (by the shopper's account), TWENTY FREAKING TWO customers in the store...WHO THE HELL WOULD PASS A SECRET SHOP with 22 people in their store? That's an 11/1 ratio of Customers to Employees...man that burns me up...there is no way to go through every ounce of everything with a customer who wants to buy a 2.13 item (THAT'S ALL THEY PURCHASED), when you have probably 11 of the twenty two people WAITING IN LINE...go shop at a strip center on Saturday and come in when we are nice and quiet during the week...shit.

9/8/06: Been a while, so I thought I'd update.

Above is my favorite page (so far) of Dead Sonja. Its page three, and though I should have blurted out the lettering, I think it doesn't give enough away to really upset anyone, but if F. Blatant III tells me to remove it, I guess I'll have to.
Also, in another interesting and great piece of news, Owen Gieni will be drawing the second 16 page Dead Sonja story, which is awesome, because it is the first time him and I have worked together since LANDIS. And we don't really get to keep in touch anymore, unfortunately, with him being involved with Sorethumbsonline.com and all, but when I found that tidbit out, I jumped for joy in total elation.
I'm real excited about this project now, so I'm actually wondering what BLATANT book I should send in next. I've heard a spoof on HALO, a spoof on WWE, or a Transformers spoof. I'm thinking Highlander, Army of Darkness, but I'm definitely keen on writing out any of those others, too...what's everyone think?
I'll be posting a promo piece for TAVA (The Ardy Vanstarr Adventures) soon. Its from JK RAdtke and he's putting extra time back into the already completed pages because he wants it to be perfect. I don't blame him, so I'm giving him all the time he'd like to get it rolling and we'll launch it when its ready, which has probably disappointed a lot of people, but we want to give you 100% everytime we upload pages, and since JK is back to 100% into the project, we are moving along.
Some real life BS stuff now...
With the day job, everything is going from bad to really freakin bad, right before our yearly conference in Dallas, my assistant manager decides he wants to quit. But get this, he puts in two weeks notice and then says, "But I want to use my sick time that I've built up, or I'll just call out sick..." To which I'll take it as job abandonment instead of "using sick time" since he's saying he's going to dick the company. This means MORE work for me, harder hours, and having to hire someone. Its actually good, since he didn't want to grow up and change like the company does, so I needed to find someone else anyway, they just wanted me to wait until after the conference...its too bad, too, because he's a decent guy, but if he does this, it shows what kind of real person he is...
